Lindsay Webb proudly stood with confessed sex offender Patrick Hickey.

While on the Toledo City Council, Webb used her position to protect now-convicted sex offender Patrick Hickey as the Superintendent at Washington Local Schools and help him get elected to the school board.1

Hickey pled guilty and is now in prison for having sexual relations with a fifteen-year-old student. The Toledo Blade reported that Webb said any attempt to fire Hickey would result in “political consequences.”1

“I love politics. I know how to play politics. Up to this point, I haven’t come close to Washington Local Schools races. That will change starting today.” 1

Webb even sent out endorsement letters1 in support of Hickey and wore an #IStandWithHickey t-shirt, refusing to back down for much of the investigation.

Costing Taxpayers

Webb lacked the basic qualifications to be Lucas County Treasurer and resigned saying that “I feel it is best that I spend some time focusing on my family by returning to private life.2

She then changed her mind and had Lucas County taxpayers fork over an extra $10,000 a year – nearly 10 times the cost of the previous Treasurer –  to secure her $73,294 a year political appointment.2

Playing Partisan Politics

Our county treasurer shouldn’t be political. But Webb is turning her office into a platform for partisanship.

When asked why she should be treasurer, Webb responded “I'm committing to helping get other Democrats elected, which is part of the process.” Democrats already control all 11 countywide offices in Lucas County.3

As a member of the Toledo City Council, Webb caused controversy with her partisan political support.

“At her first meeting, in 2008, Ms. Webb earned the wrath of a faction of council Democrats when she supported Mark Sobczak for council president after having promised her vote to then-Councilman Michael Ashford."
“Her ups and downs continued right into the current election season when Ms. Webb missed a filing deadline and nearly was thrown off the ballot.”
